Booking terms & conditions

The terms we plan and book on.

Last updated 24 September 2026. These terms apply to every quote, booking and trip arranged by Wanderway NZ Limited ("Wanderway", "we"). By paying a deposit you accept them.

1. Who we are and what we do

Wanderway NZ Limited, company number 9452797, 21 Bickerton Rise, Churton Park, Wellington 6037, New Zealand, is a New Zealand travel planning and booking agency. We design itineraries and book accommodation, transport, activities and related services ("travel services") on your behalf with the operators who provide them ("suppliers"). We are not the operator of those services and do not book international flights.

2. Enquiries, quotes and prices

  • Journey ideas on this website are examples, not packages. Every trip is quoted individually in New Zealand dollars, including GST where it applies.
  • A quote is valid for the period stated on it (normally 14 days). Nothing is booked, and no price is held, until we receive your deposit.
  • Prices are per person unless stated. They are based on the group size, dates, room configuration and services shown on the quote; changing any of those may change the price.
  • Experience prices shown on the website are indicative "from" prices supplied by operators and are confirmed at the time of booking.
  • If a supplier changes a price or a government fee or tax is introduced before we have paid the supplier, we may pass the change on to you, after telling you, and you may cancel without penalty within 7 days if the increase exceeds 8% of the trip price.

3. Deposits and payment

  • A deposit (normally 20% of the quoted price, or more where suppliers require it) confirms your booking.
  • The balance is due on the date shown on your invoice, normally 60 days before your first travel service; for bookings made inside that period the full amount is due at confirmation.
  • Payment is by bank transfer to the account on the invoice. Bank and currency-conversion charges are yours. We do not hold card details.
  • If the balance is not received by the due date we may treat the booking as cancelled by you and apply the cancellation terms below.

4. Changes by you

  • Small changes (a name correction, a room type, an added experience) are usually free apart from any supplier charges. Larger changes are re-quoted.
  • Changes of travel dates or a reduction in group size are treated as a cancellation of the affected services and may carry supplier charges.
  • Unused services during the trip are not refundable.

5. Cancellation by you

Cancellations must be sent by email. Charges are calculated from the date we receive it and are the higher of the amounts below or the supplier's own charges, which we will always show you:

  • More than 60 days before travel: loss of deposit.
  • 60 to 31 days: 50% of the trip price.
  • 30 to 15 days: 75% of the trip price.
  • 14 days or fewer, or after travel starts: 100%.

Some services — overnight cruises, luxury lodges, peak-season stays, helicopter days — are non-refundable from the moment they are booked; these are marked on your quote. Travel insurance exists for exactly these situations (see 9).

6. Changes and cancellation by us or a supplier

  • Weather, road closures, sea conditions and operator safety decisions are a normal part of travel in New Zealand. If a service cannot run we will offer a comparable alternative or a refund of what we paid for that service, less any non-recoverable supplier charges. We are not liable for consequential losses.
  • If we cancel a whole trip for a reason within our control, we refund everything you have paid us.
  • Events beyond anyone's control (natural disaster, pandemic, border closure, industrial action, war) are governed by the suppliers' own terms; we will recover what we can for you.

7. Travel documents and entry

  • You are responsible for holding a valid passport (at least three months beyond your departure from New Zealand), the correct visa or NZeTA, and any transit requirements. We provide checklists and booking confirmations to help, but we are not immigration advisers and we cannot guarantee entry.
  • Names on bookings must match passports. Charges for correcting them are yours.
  • Passports and other documents you upload are kept encrypted and deleted after your trip, as described in our privacy policy.

8. Health, safety and suitability

  • Tell us about any medical condition, disability, pregnancy, dietary requirement or fitness limitation that could affect a service. Operators may decline participation on safety grounds; where that happens, their terms apply.
  • Minimum ages, heights and weights for activities are set by operators and are shown on our website as a guide.
  • You must follow supplier safety instructions. Activities are undertaken at your own risk to the extent permitted by law.

9. Travel insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, medical treatment, evacuation and personal belongings is a condition of travelling with us. New Zealand's accident compensation scheme covers treatment for injuries in New Zealand but not cancellation, illness, or getting you home.

10. Our responsibility

  • We take reasonable care in choosing suppliers and in describing services, and we will act promptly if something goes wrong.
  • Suppliers provide their services under their own terms, which you accept when using them. We are not liable for their acts or omissions beyond the amount we have received from you for the affected service.
  • Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986 where they apply.

11. Complaints

Tell us during the trip so we can fix it; most things can be sorted the same day. If something remains unresolved, email [email protected] within 30 days of your return and we will respond within 10 working days.

12. Website use

Content on this website is ours or licensed to us and may not be copied for commercial use. Prices and availability shown are indicative and may change. Links to other sites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content.

13. Law

These terms are governed by New Zealand law and the courts of New Zealand. If any part is unenforceable the rest continues to apply.
