Travelling from
🇦🇺New Zealand from Australia
Three hours across the Tasman and you're in another landscape entirely. Australians are our most frequent travellers — long weekends in Queenstown, a week in the South Island, ski trips in July, and slower touring in retirement. We plan the parts that are annoying to plan, and you keep the freedom.

3–4 hours non-stop to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch or Queenstown
Gold Coast, Adelaide
Non-stop to Auckland; seasonal services to Queenstown

Frequent, short and often cheap if you're flexible. Fly straight into Queenstown for the mountains, Christchurch for a South Island loop, or Auckland for the north.
Before you fly
No visa, no NZeTA for citizens
Australian citizens can enter on their passport alone. Australian permanent residents need an NZeTA before they fly, and other passport holders living in Australia follow the rule for their own passport. Entry rules are set by Immigration New Zealand and change from time to time — we help you understand the steps, but always confirm the current requirement for your passport at immigration.govt.nz before you book flights.
New Zealand is 2 hours ahead of Sydney and Melbourne year-round, and 3 hours ahead of Brisbane in the NZ summer.

Good to know
The small things that make it easy.
- Driving
- Same side, similar rules, narrower roads. Allow more time than the map suggests — most roads are two lanes and winding.
- Money
- Cards everywhere. NZD and AUD are close but not equal; prices include 15% GST.
- Phone
- Most Australian plans roam in NZ at a daily rate; a local eSIM is usually cheaper for a week or more.
- Weather
- Cooler than the same season at home. Pack a proper jacket even in summer, especially for the South Island.
Questions we hear
What travellers from Australia ask us.
Why book through a planner when I can do it myself?
You can, and many do. We're useful when you want the good lodges and guides on the right dates, a driver for the mountain roads, or a group trip with a dozen moving parts. You get one contact, one invoice and someone to call.
Can you organise a ski week?
Yes — lift passes, lessons, gear hire, transfers and stays close to the fields. Tell us the group's levels and we'll match the mountain to them.
Do you do long-weekend trips?
Three or four nights in Queenstown or the Bay of Islands is a very common request. Short, but we'll make every day count.
