Travelling from
🇮🇳New Zealand from India
New Zealand is a long way from India, which is exactly why people come: clean air, quiet roads, mountains you can drive to and a country that is easy to travel with family. Most of our Indian travellers stay eight to twelve nights and see one island properly.

Arrive Auckland
Most itineraries land here; Christchurch or Queenstown if you're South Island only
There is no non-stop flight yet. Allow 16–20 hours door to door with one stop, and remember you lose most of a day flying east — an evening departure from India lands in Auckland the following afternoon or evening.
Before you fly
Visitor visa required
Indian passport holders need a New Zealand visitor visa, applied for online before travel. Processing times vary by season, so we recommend applying as soon as your dates are firm and well before you pay for flights. We give you a checklist and the itinerary letter most applicants attach. Entry rules are set by Immigration New Zealand and change from time to time — we help you understand the steps, but always confirm the current requirement for your passport at immigration.govt.nz before you book flights.
New Zealand is 6½ hours ahead of IST in the NZ winter and 7½ hours ahead in the NZ summer.

Good to know
The small things that make it easy.
- Driving
- Left-hand side, same as India. An Indian licence in English is accepted for up to 12 months; we can also arrange a driver.
- Food
- Vegetarian, Jain and halal options are easy in the main centres and we plan for them along the route. Indian restaurants exist in every city.
- Money
- Cards everywhere; carry little cash. Prices include 15% GST. Tipping is not expected.
- Weather
- Four seasons in a day is real — pack layers even in summer. The sun is strong; use sunscreen.
- Phone
- Buy a local SIM or eSIM on arrival; coverage is good in towns and patchy in the mountains.
Questions we hear
What travellers from India ask us.
Do you help with the visa?
We are not immigration advisers, but we give you the itinerary and accommodation confirmation most applications need, and a step-by-step checklist. Your trip file keeps everything in one place.
Can we do both islands in ten nights?
You can, but you'll spend a lot of it in transit. With ten nights we usually suggest one island done well; both islands work from about twelve nights.
Is New Zealand family-friendly for elderly parents?
Very. We keep drive days short, choose stays with lifts and level access, and build in rest days. Tell us who's coming and we shape the pace around them.
What about Indian meals on the road?
Most towns on our routes have at least one Indian restaurant, and self-catering stays make it easy to cook. We'll flag the days that need a packed lunch.
