The non-stops from Dubai and Doha are about 16–17 hours; via Australia adds a few hours but opens up Christchurch and Queenstown arrivals. Fly out in the evening, arrive the next evening — plan the first night as a soft landing.

Citizens of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman are visa-waiver visitors and need an NZeTA (electronic travel authority) plus the tourist levy before flying. Gulf residents travelling on other passports — Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian, Jordanian, Lebanese and many others — usually need a visitor visa applied for in advance. We tell you which applies at the first call. Entry rules are set by Immigration New Zealand and change from time to time — we help you understand the steps, but always confirm the current requirement for your passport at immigration.govt.nz before you book flights.

The small things that make it easy.
- Halal food
- Halal options are available in Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown and Rotorua, and most supermarkets stock halal meat. We note the days where choices are thinner and book stays with kitchens where that helps.
- Prayer
- Mosques in Auckland, Hamilton, Christchurch and Dunedin, prayer rooms at the main airports; we can share prayer times and quiet spaces at stays on request.
- Families
- Large family groups are our most common Gulf request — multi-bedroom houses, a driver with a van, connecting rooms and late starts are all easy.
- Driving
- Left-hand side. A Gulf licence in English (or with an international permit) is accepted; many families prefer a private driver for the mountain roads.
- Money
- Cards everywhere; contactless is standard. Prices include 15% GST. Tipping is not expected.
- Weather
- Summer days are mild (20–26°C), winter days cool (8–14°C). Pack layers — it changes fast.

Is a week enough?
For one island, yes — Queenstown and the Southern Lakes, or Auckland and Rotorua, both work beautifully in seven nights.
Can we see snow in the summer holidays?
July and August are New Zealand's winter, so yes: skiing, snow play and hot pools are all on. Glaciers are visible year-round.
We're a large family — can you do villas and a driver?
Yes. We book multi-bedroom houses and lodges, a driver-guide with a van, and keep the group together every night.
My spouse and I hold different passports — what then?
Each traveller follows the rule for their own passport. One may need only an NZeTA while the other needs a visa; we lay out both timelines.
We're flying from Riyadh or Kuwait — is it harder?
Only slightly longer: one stop in Doha or Dubai and you're on the same non-stop the Dubai travellers use. We plan the connection so the first night in New Zealand is easy.
